At Advanced Pain and Spine Institute, physical therapy is an integral part of our program. Our therapists combine expertise in pain, movement and exercise to efficiently address the unique concerns of those who have persisting pain. They will examine you and develop a plan of care to help you move, reduce pain, restore function and prevent or decrease disability.

The therapists are committed to an individualized approach of goal setting and problem solving. They work with you to determine which personal goals are of greatest importance and help you achieve those by developing a fitness and wellness-oriented program tailored to your specific needs. Often input from professionals such as psychologists, counselors, social workers and occupational therapists helps them determine which goals to address.

Your physical therapist will help you understand you body so you will achieve long-term health benefits. Their treatment aims:

  • To provide a comprehensive, specially tailored evidence-based education program about how to understand, live with and manage ongoing pain
  • To increase activity level while decreasing overall pain
  • To decrease the pain of daily activities such as getting out of bed or a chair, walking/exercising, household work and leisure activities
  • To decrease pain associated with sustained postures such as sitting, sleeping and standing.

Increasing quality of life while reducing persisting pain is a process that requires ongoing commitment from you as well as a coordinated team effort. Our team tailors our treatment plans to fit into your daily life. Because they focus on independent performance of home exercise programs, our therapy typically consists of a lower number of visits than at many other clinics. Often, several months after ending a course of physical therapy, it may be beneficial for you to return for short courses of treatment to ensure continued progress toward your long-term goals of optimal function, improved quality of life and decreased pain.
